Ava cares for children with complex medical and developmental needs at home, and our services are provided at no cost to parents when a child qualifies for GAPP. What decides care is your child’s daily needs, not only the diagnosis.

The diagnosis opens the door. The daily care decides the hours.

GAPP approves hours per week based on what your child needs every day: suctioning, feeds, medicines, repositioning, seizure checks, night wake-ups and hands-on help. Parents often forget half of what they do, because it’s normal to them.

Services are provided at no cost to parents

For children who qualify, Georgia Medicaid pays Ava directly for approved GAPP care. You will not get a bill from us for approved care.

Questions about conditions and GAPP

Which conditions does Ava care for at home?

Children and young adults under 21 with spinal muscular atrophy, complex respiratory conditions, tracheostomy and ventilator needs, congenital abnormalities, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other chronic conditions, plus children who need daily hands-on personal care.

Does my child’s diagnosis decide whether they get GAPP?

Not by itself. GAPP looks at your child’s daily medical and care needs and your doctor’s orders, not only the diagnosis name. That’s why writing down a full day of care helps.

What if my child’s condition isn’t on this list?

The list isn’t complete. If your child is under 21 and needs medical care or hands-on help every day, call us and describe a normal day.

Does Ava care for children with autism only?

GAPP is for children with medical needs or daily hands-on care needs tied to a medical condition. If your child has autism without those needs, call us and we will point you to programs that fit better.
